Everything is better with Muppets, everything.  I love all of these films but Muppet Treasure Island stands out from the rest.  Maybe its seeing them in this retelling of Treasure Island, maybe its the awesome Tim Curry as Long John Silver or could it be  the awesome score of Hans Zimmer.

What other film could have a quote such as, “I’m not Jimmy Jim, Jimmy Jim, Jim, Jim, Jim.  He’s  Jimmy Jim, Jimmy Jim, Jim, Jim, Jim.”

The film starts out with Jim Hawkins and his two friends The Great Gonzo and Rizzo the Rat living a meager life.  They then inherit a treasure map from the eccentric Billy Bones who dies on a bed right in front of them.  Rizzo then beautifully breaks the fourth wall by saying, “he died?  And this is supposed to be a kids movie”

They then go looking for a ship which places them in front of the desk of Fozzie Bear, who knows the ocean as the big blue wet thing.  With his financial backing they get a ship and maybe the best crew imaginable that includes Old Tom, Real Old Tom, Dead Tom(who is just a walking skeleton), Headless Bill(who cant answer the role call because well…hes headless), and finally Big Fat Bug Faced Baby Eating O’Brian(who is a beautiful woman with the deepest of voices.)

The voyage then begins and shenanigans and awesomeness ensue!

In a perfect world Jim Henson would be immortal and have an endless supply of money and he would make Muppet parodies of everything.  Batman:The Muppet Knight, Muppetception, The Muppetshank Redemption, Lord of the Muppets, Win a date with Tad Hamelmuppet, The Muppet Network..  If I win the lottery tomorrow I would put half of it into the development of a time machine and the other half to Jim Henson when I travel to the 70s.
