Playing the feline femme fatale Selina Kyle is none other than Anne Hathaway.
And Bane is going to be played by Tom Hardy.
You remember Bane. No, not the horrendous, zombie-esque interpretation from Schumacher’s Batman and Robin…

No, the Bane from the comic books. The hulking, intelligent, psychotic terrorist, addicted to muscle enhancers and thirsting for the blood of a certain flying rodent.
You know. The only character in all of the Dark Knight’s rogue gallery to ever really break Batman…

Update: EW’s got the scoop here. Worth mentioning that in their press release this morning, Warner Brothers didn’t say Anne Hathaway would play Catwoman, only that she’d play one Selina Kyle.
Sort of like how Aaron Eckhardt mostly played a Harvey Dent…until half his face was burned away, and he became a Two-Face.

I was just about to email a link to you with the EW article and here you’ve made a tidy article of your own! This is quite exciting casting news…Tom Hardy was pretty excellent in Inception, and he will fit right in in Gotham City methinks…Nolan does so love reusing actors in his films (Michael Caine alone has been in four of his films), so this should be awesome!
Tom Hardy is awesome. And it would be amazing to see him as bane. Hopefully Anne Hathaway will benefit from a good director because I don’t dig any movies she has been in thus far. She is just eye candy and I guess that is what catwoman is supposed to be but, still

Agreed with everyone about Tom Hardy being an excellent chose for Bane; I think Anne Hathaway’s gonna rock it too, I’ll be the first to admit it. She was good in Brokeback, Devil Wears Prada (going bat to bat with Meryl Streep, what up!), and apparently she’s good in Sex, Love, and Other Drugs.
But the reality of it is: Bane and Catwoman are seriously the best choices for villains to follow up the Joker. They’re kind of the ONLY choices that have as much grit and clout, and could work in Nolan’s Gotham, and it’s ridiculously exciting that they’ll be populating it in the next Batman flick.
Really can’t wait.
Just watched Dark Knight again as the second half of a double bill with the Social Network, and I’ve gotta say: not only is the movie STILL amazing (and makes for a great double bill with SN), but those might just be my favorite two films made in the last twenty years or so, natch.
No lie; even more amped for Dark Knight Rising.
