An Open Letter From the Black and White Guy:
Let’s raise our respective alcohol-bearing glasses to 2010: what a passable great year for movies!
And, even more to the point, what a great year for this website! I’ve scoured through the annals of Sucker Punch Cinema, and I’ve got some shocking statistics for you:
- We’ve reviewed approximately 25,000 movies!
- We have featured nearly 10,000 original illustrations! (Thanks to Kaila Bell, who did about 9,500 of them).
- Our “categories” (or “genres”) include: Alien Invasion, Magic Realism, Unfulfilled Potential, and Mental Enema
- Last but not least, our most famous author is J.K. Rowling, none other than the supervising editor/producer of a little diddy called “Harry’s a Pothead and the Sorcerer’s Stoned”.
Trust me, everything I just said is 100% accurate, as confirmed on Wikipedia.
Anyway, welcome to 2011! Thanks to all our readers, and we hope to accomplish some pretty hefty goals in the next 12 months, including overhauling the biography section (we’ve been saying that since Day One…and now it’s like Day One Hundred and Fifty), reviewing more current films (in an effort to increase site traffic), and getting more people interested in authoring reviews. We could use your help with this, so if you have any ideas (or, ya know, a lot of money), let us know!
We’re also planning to establish a weekly/bi-weekly Podcast, but the logistics of setting up a dedicated web server for that bad boy are a little daunting, so that’s still being discussed.
But sit back, count the days until the disastrous reckoning of 2012 happens (the film, not the date), and enjoy another ride on the Sucker Punch Cinema bandwagon.
I promise, you’ll be somewhat glad you did!

P.S. – The image atop this letter is from Greg Nigro’s review of “Nosferatu”, and it was one of the first reviews we posted on the site. Thought it was thematically appropriate (ya know, because we’ve been getting a**f*cked by R-Patz for the last 3 or so years).
